Abstract In this study, the design improvement was done in a shell and tube condenser for improved heat transfer condensation of bio-oil vapour. The developed has split segmental baffles, which divide various zones condensate collection points. fast pyrolysis wheat straw vapour collected from outlets located at bottom shell. From experimental results it found that production increased 10.2 to 20.8% with increase cooling water flow rate 1000 2500 L/h; but, further increasing beyond L/h provide marginal effects on bio-oil. 15.2 20.7% as sweep gas 20 40 L/min rate.
